Opmerkingen

Issued to mark the 60th anniversary of Samoan independence, this note was the first commemorative denomination of this face value in the series — 60 tālā having no place in ordinary circulation. Thomas De La Rue printed the note in London, consistent with the long relationship between Pacific island issuers and the firm stretching back through the colonial and early post-independence periods.

The security specification is notably sparse for a commemorative issue of this date — watermark only, with none of the polymer substrate or thread features common to De La Rue's contemporary output for other Pacific central banks.
