正面描述 Laureate and draped bust of James VII (James II of England) facing right, rendered in high relief with finely detailed curling hair beneath the laurel wreath and a classically draped mantle at the shoulder. The numeral '60', denoting the mark of value, appears in the exergue below the portrait truncation. The encircling Latin legend is positioned along the inner border of a beaded rim, reading from the lower left upward on both sides of the effigy.

附加信息

James VII's 60 shilling piece was never struck for circulation during his reign — the original 1688 issue was a pattern, and the 1828 restrike was produced by the Royal Mint from dies re-cut or refurbished long after the Revolution that deposed him had concluded. The restrikes were made speculatively, almost certainly to satisfy collector demand during a period when Scottish numismatic material was actively sought by London dealers and gentlemen antiquarians alike.

Spink 5635 is the standard reference, but attribution of individual examples between original and restrike can be contentious without die analysis.
