| 裏面の説明 | The Cross of the Military Order of Christ occupies the central field, its arms bold and squared in the Portuguese colonial style. The four digits of the date '1733' are distributed in the four quarters formed by the arms of the cross, reading '1', '7' in the upper left and right, and '3', '3' in the lower left and right. The entire design is surrounded by a milled or beaded outer border. |

João V's Indian coinage occupied an awkward administrative position — struck at Goa under viceroy authority yet technically denominated within a monetary system that bore little practical relationship to the coins actually circulating in the Estado da India's markets. The 60 reis denomination was a local accommodation, not a metropolitan one. Lisbon never struck it.
The Goa mint in this period was chronically undersupplied with refined silver, drawing on trade flows from the Persian Gulf and intermittent seizures rather than any consistent bullion pipeline from Portugal.
