Obverse description At center, the ornately mantled civic arms of Breisach — a shield bearing a six-petaled rose — displayed within an elaborate cartouche with foliate and scroll decoration. The shield is surmounted by a sexfoil arch. The circumferential Latin legend, separated by a cross, runs along the outer border within a beaded inner circle, incorporating the mint date 1565.

Reverse description Crowned half-length armored effigy of Holy Roman Emperor Ferdinand I facing right, depicted in full imperial regalia, holding the imperial orb in his right hand and a scepter in his left, with the denomination indicated in the field. The imperial legend encircles the bust, reading continuously around the outer border within a beaded circle, identifying the emperor by his full titles.
