Hall in Tirol was one of hundreds of Austrian municipalities forced into emergency currency production after the collapse of the Habsburg empire left the region's coin supply in freefall. The Wagner press in Innsbruck handled a significant portion of Tyrolean Notgeld work during this period, supplying multiple town communes from a single operation — which occasionally produced subtle typographic consistencies across otherwise unrelated issues.
The 60 Heller denomination sits at an odd value, chosen to cover specific small-transaction gaps that standard coinage could no longer fill.
