Pucking is a small municipality south of Linz, and this 60 Heller notgeld is among the more modest products of Austria's postwar emergency currency wave — a denomination awkward enough that it suggests the issuer was trying to plug a very specific gap in local small change. The Langhammer press in Linz handled a considerable volume of Upper Austrian municipal notgeld during this period, and their work for rural communes like Pucking was purely functional.
The 1920 date places this note in the second phase of Austrian notgeld issuance, after the initial wartime shortages but during the ongoing monetary chaos of the early First Republic, when municipalities still could not rely on the central government to supply adequate coinage.
