Reverse description Central field features a large Cross of the Order of Christ (a thick, bold cross with splayed ends), with four small quatrefoil ornaments positioned in each quadrant between the arms of the cross. The circular legend IN*HOC*SIGNO*VINCES* ('In this sign you shall conquer') runs around the periphery, separated by star stops, rendered in Latin capital letters. The design is enclosed within a beaded inner border and a milled outer rim, consistent with the obverse treatment. The overall style is characteristic of late 18th-century Portuguese milled silver coinage.
