The five-clawed dragon, emblematic of Vietnamese imperial authority under the Nguyễn dynasty, is depicted in a dynamic curling posture with its horned head facing left, scales and whiskers carefully delineated. Flames and cloud scrolls surround the creature, filling the field around the sinuous body and tail.
