Obverse description Central quartered shield bearing the arms of Grand Master Jean de la Vallette: the cross of the Order of Saint John quartered with the personal arms of the Vallette family, featuring rampant lions and a chequered field, surmounted by decorative scrollwork above the shield. The denomination numeral '6' appears in the left field. A circular Latin legend runs along the entire periphery, interrupted at the top by a Maltese cross separating the beginning and end of the inscription.
