正面描述 Central field bears the crowned municipal arms of Zutphen, comprising a quartered shield displaying the lion of Gelderland in the upper half and a decorative base charge below, surmounted by an ornate crown with the date 1688 appearing above it. The denomination numeral '6' and initial 'S' (for Stuivers) flank the shield in the field, serving as the value indicator. A circular Latin legend runs along the periphery reading MO . NO . ARG . CIV . ZVTPHANIÆ 1688, identifying this as a new silver coin of the city of Zutphen. The piece, being a contemporary copper counterfeit, exhibits noticeably crude die-work relative to genuine issues, with irregular surface texture and weakly defined details throughout. The entire design is contained within a beaded or plain inner border.

附加信息

Zutphen's copper coinage of the late seventeenth century occupied a legally ambiguous space — the city retained minting rights as a member of the Guelders quarter of the States-General, but the proliferation of low-denomination municipal copper issues had become a source of genuine friction with the central monetary authorities by the 1680s. This piece is part of that contested final phase of independent civic minting in the Dutch Republic, before tighter federal oversight curtailed local issues.

The "Rijderschelling" name derives from the rider type long associated with Guelders coinage tradition, inherited from much earlier silver schelling denominations.
