Obverse description Central crowned royal shield bearing the monogram 'GR' (Georgius Rex), the Jamaican countermark applied to the host coin's obverse. The surrounding legend reads FERDND VI D G HISPAN ET IND REX, identifying the host coin as a Spanish colonial issue of Ferdinand VI. The mint mark 'M' and assayer's initials 'F' appear to the left and lower-left of the central device, with the denomination '8' to the right, characteristic of the Mexico City Pillar coinage. The entire design is enclosed within a beaded border.
