| Obverse description | Central crowned royal shield of Castile and León, displaying the quartered arms with castles and lions, surmounted by an ornate royal crown. Flanking the shield are the denomination numeral '8' to the right and the Lima mint assayer initials 'JM' to the left. Applied over the host coin's obverse is a prominent oval counterstamp bearing the crowned cypher 'GR' (Georgius Rex) of King George II of Great Britain, applied by Jamaican colonial authorities. The circular legend reads FERND·VI·D·G·HISPAN·ET·IND·REX, identifying Ferdinand VI as King of the Spains and the Indies. |
