Obverse description Central field features a stylized lion passant beneath a radiant sun, rendered in the traditional Safavid heraldic manner characteristic of late-dynasty coinage. The design is enclosed within a beaded inner border with a plain outer rim. The composition is bold and deeply struck for a hammered issue, with the lion's body depicted in a dynamic, angular style typical of Mazandaran provincial coinage. The overall design reflects the continued use of the Shir-o-Khorshid (Lion and Sun) royal emblem as a symbol of Safavid sovereignty during the period of the shadow kings.
