Obverse description Central field features the Portuguese royal arms: an oval escutcheon bearing five bezants arranged in quincunx, enclosed within a rounded shield, all surmounted by a crown above. The design is rendered in a crude hammered style characteristic of the Goa colonial mint, with the escutcheon occupying the majority of the coin's field.
