| Beschrijving voorzijde | The obverse displays the denomination numeral '6' prominently in the upper field, with the word 'REIS' inscribed below in capital letters, all within a plain field on this crude copper flan. The design is characteristic of the small armillar sphere type struck under João VI for Portuguese India, locally known as 'Januadini.' The lettering is bold and rudimentary, reflecting the modest production standards of the Goa mint during this period. Two distinct varieties exist per Gomes 2013: J6.03.0 (large armillar sphere) and J6.20.0 (small armillar sphere), this example being the small armillar sphere type. |
