The Cathedral Chapter of Münster exercised independent coining rights as an ecclesiastical authority within the Holy Roman Empire, issuing small copper pfennig denominations to serve local commercial needs. The 1762 date places this piece squarely in the Seven Years' War, a period when monetary disruption across German territories was acute and small change chronically scarce.
KM#440 is not a frequently encountered type in higher grades; cathedral chapter coppers of this period circulated hard in regional markets and rarely survived intact.
