Obverse description Central field displays a crowned four-part escutcheon arranged in rhombus (lozenge) form, quartering the arms of Bavaria and the Palatinate. The episcopal titles of Ferdinand of Bavaria appear in the surrounding legend, with the fractional denomination indicator (56) positioned at the base of the legend. The mintmaster's mark EK, for Engelbert Kettler, is present. The design is framed by an inner plain circle and an outer beaded border.
