Obverse description The crowned imperial eagle of Mühlhausen displayed in the central field, with wings spread and elaborately rendered feathers in the baroque style. The shield on the eagle's breast bears the city arms of Mühlhausen, depicting a crowned tower. A circular legend reading MÜHL: HAUSEN runs along the periphery, flanked by the milled edge border.

Reverse description A crowned imperial orb (Reichsapfel) occupies the centre of the field, surmounted by a floriated cross, with the denomination VI in Roman numerals displayed prominently below the orb. The date is divided to either side of the cross, with the year numerals flanking the orb in the upper field, reading 17 and 37 (or 67 for the later variety). The design is contained within a milled border.
