Obverse description Within a beaded inner circle, the crowned Gothic initial 'E' of King Erik occupies the central field, rendered in a bold, angular style characteristic of medieval Scandinavian hammered coinage. The crown surmounting the letter is clearly delineated despite the irregular flan. A circular legend surrounds the beaded border, reading ERICVS REX, identifying the issuing monarch. The overall design is simple and heraldic in character, with the monogram serving as the primary device.
