Obverse description The obverse presents the aged effigy of Queen Victoria facing left, rendered in the so-called 'Old Head' or 'Widow's' portrait modelled by Thomas Brock, depicting the Queen diademed and veiled with a small coronet atop the diadem. The truncation of the bust is draped, and the designer's initials 'T.B.' appear at the lower truncation. The peripheral legend encircles the effigy in raised Latin lettering within a beaded border.
