Reverse description Two crossed mining picks, rendered in fine detail with hatched bindings at the intersection, dominate the centre of the field — a design by George Kruger Gray symbolising the mineral wealth of Southern Rhodesia. The engraver's initials 'KG' appear at the crossing point of the handles. The date is placed horizontally across the middle of the field, with the numeral '6' below the picks and 'PENCE' along the lower rim. The legend 'SOUTHERN RHODESIA' is divided between the left and right fields, reading downward on each side. A denticular border frames the entire design.
