Crowned effigy of King George V facing left, rendered in the style of Sir Edgar Bertram MacKennal's standard coinage portrait, with the king shown in robes and wearing an Imperial State Crown. The truncation of the bust is visible at the lower portion of the field. The encircling legend reads GEORGIVS V D. G. BRITT: OMN: REX F. D. IND: IMP: in raised Latin lettering, interrupted by the bust. The coin's surfaces display original tin-brass lustre with warm golden toning consistent with the alloy composition. |

The reverse is entirely blank, comprising a plain, unadorned field with no devices, legends, or inscriptions of any kind. This intentionally unfinished reverse is characteristic of an obverse trial piece, produced solely to test the obverse die design, effigy rendering, and strike quality of the proposed George V sixpence for British West Africa. The surface exhibits pronounced multicoloured toning ranging from deep purple and grey to orange and silver, consistent with the tin-brass composition and long-term oxidation. |
