| Obverse description | The obverse presents the laureate and draped older bust of King George II facing left, engraved by John Tanner with finely rendered curled wig falling to the shoulder and armoured truncation visible at the base. The portrait is rendered in high relief with characteristic Baroque detail in the hair and drapery. The circumferential legend reads GEORGIUS·II·DEI·GRATIA·, meaning 'George the Second by the Grace of God', disposed around the bust. A toothed border frames the entire design. |
