Reverse description A quartered royal shield of arms, bearing the arms of England and France quarterly, is superimposed upon a long cross fourchée that extends to the coin's edge, dividing the field into four quarters. The regnal date is divided by the top of the shield, with numerals appearing on either side in the upper field. The bell mintmark appears at the beginning of the circumferential Latin legend, which runs around the full perimeter of the reverse.
