Obverse description Laureate and crowned bust of King Charles I facing left, with flowing hair and a pointed beard, draped in robes with an ornate lace collar visible at the truncation. The Roman numeral VI denoting the denomination appears in the field to the right of the effigy. The legend, in Latin, runs clockwise around the bust within a beaded inner circle, separated from the milled outer border. A floral mintmark (flower and B) appears at the commencement of the legend.
