Reverse description The reverse features a boldly rendered cross formed by two horizontal clasped hands intersecting a vertical bar, symbolizing unity or agreement, with small ornamental pellets and foliate sprigs decorating the quadrants between the arms. At the center junction of the cross, the hands are depicted clasping firmly, a motif associated with fellowship and contract. Small crescent and star devices appear between the arms of the cross. The surrounding circular legend reads 1783. IC. SIX PENCE, with the date and denomination flanking the initials of the issuer, John Chalmers. The reeded edge is visible at the coin's rim.
