Obverse description Armored and draped bust of King Christian VI facing right, wearing a full flowing periwig (peruke) and a prominent necklace bearing the badge of the Order of the Elephant. The portrait is rendered in high relief in a formal baroque court style. A Latin legend runs along the rim, interrupted at top and bottom by the king's hair. The field is smooth and unadorned, focusing attention on the regal effigy.

Reverse description A crowned heraldic shield bearing the arms of Norway (a lion rampant holding an axe) is centrally placed, flanked on either side by the denomination expressed as '6 M.' The date is divided in two halves below the shield, separated by a small heart-shaped mintmark — the privy mark of the Copenhagen Mint. The overall composition is symmetrical and heraldic in character, consistent with Danish coinage of the period.
