| Aversbeschreibung | Central field features the Hungarian royal coat of arms — a crowned shield divided quarterly, displaying the traditional horizontal stripes of Hungary on the dexter side and the patriarchal double cross on a triple-mount on the sinister side. The shield is surmounted by the Hungarian Holy Crown. The denomination mark '6. K.' appears prominently across the centre of the shield. A circular legend in Latin surrounds the design, reading 'MAGYAR KIRÁLYI VÁLTÓ PÉNZ', meaning 'Hungarian Royal Change Money', disposed around the upper and lower periphery of the coin. |

| Reversbeschreibung | The reverse presents a plain, unadorned field bearing a bold three-line inscription in large serif capital letters: 'HAT KRAJCZÁR' (meaning 'Six Krajczár') occupying the upper and central portions of the coin. Below the denomination text, the date '1849.' is struck in the lower central field, followed by the mint mark 'N. B.' (Nagybánya, present-day Baia Mare, Romania) positioned near the bottom rim. The design is restrained and typographic in character, consistent with the emergency coinage produced during the Hungarian War of Independence. |

Hungary's Provisional Government struck this issue amid the 1848–49 revolution against Habsburg rule, a conflict that ended when Austria called in Russian Imperial forces under Paskevich to crush the Magyar army. The billon composition — well below the silver content of prewar coinage — reflects wartime fiscal reality. Kossuth's government was improvising a monetary system from scratch while simultaneously funding an army.
The revolution collapsed in August 1849 with the Hungarian surrender at Világos. Coins struck that year saw minimal circulation before the Habsburg administration invalidated them.
