| Beschrijving voorzijde | Crowned oval shield bearing the Saxon arms, flanked on either side by a palm branch. The inscription BRAVNAV appears in the upper field above the shield, while the date 1743 is divided across the design with the numerals 17 and 43 separated by the inscription 9 / MAY, referencing the specific date of issue during the siege. The overall composition is characteristic of urgency coinage produced under wartime conditions, with the heraldic device serving as the primary identifying element of the issuing authority. |

Braunau am Inn fell under Franco-Bavarian occupation during the War of Austrian Succession, and Austrian forces besieged the city in 1743. Cut off from regular supply, the garrison and civil administration resorted to emergency coinage struck from whatever silver could be gathered locally — plate, ecclesiastical silver, and personal items all fed the dies. The resulting pieces are irregular in flan preparation and often show evidence of the haste under which they were produced.
The siege ended with Austrian recapture of the city that same year.
