Beschrijving keerzijde The reverse features a three-line central inscription stating the denomination '6 KREUZER' and the date of issue, enclosed between a peripheral legend reading 'H.S.H.H' at the top arc and 'LAND MUNZE' along the lower arc, together identifying this as an official territorial currency of the Duchy of Saxe-Hildburghausen. The typography is clean and upright, consistent with the utilitarian style of German billon coinage of the Conventionsthaler standard. No additional ornamental devices appear in the field.

Aanvullende informatie

Saxe-Hildburghausen was among the smallest and most financially precarious of the Thuringian duchies, and its billon coinage of the 1820s reflects that reality directly. Frederick I ruled a territory of under 20,000 subjects and was chronically dependent on subsidies from the larger Saxon houses. The duchy's independent coinage history ended when Frederick abdicated in 1826 — exchanging Hildburghausen for Saxe-Altenburg following a dynastic reshuffling among the Ernestine lines — making this among the final issues struck in the duchy's name.
