| Obverse description | Armored bust of Ferdinand I facing right, depicted in three-quarter profile wearing a crowned helmet and elaborate plate armor, set within a beaded inner circle. The figure is rendered in the late Gothic style typical of early sixteenth-century Imperial coinage. A circular Latin legend surrounds the bust, reading variants of FERDINAN(DVS) D(EI) G(RATIA) ROM(ANORVM) VNG(ARIAE) BOEM(IAE) R(EX), identifying Ferdinand as King of the Romans, Hungary, and Bohemia. The field is irregular and slightly granular, consistent with hammered silver production of the period. |
