Christian Ulrich ruled Württemberg-Oels, one of the fragmented Silesian duchies that passed into the hands of a Württemberg cadet line in 1649. The 6 Kreuzer denomination was bread-and-butter small change during the late seventeenth century, when the post-Westphalian German states were still rebuilding monetary circulation shattered by thirty years of war. Silesia's minting activity during this period was complicated by overlapping Habsburg suzerainty, which imposed periodic constraints on what subsidiary rulers could legally strike.
The two-year window of production for KM#38 likely reflects a specific fiscal need rather than continuous policy.
