| Beschrijving keerzijde | The reverse is printed in green ink only, with the obverse design showing through as a mirror image owing to the thin paper stock. Two large bold green typeset names 'Jos. Fischer. Franz A. Spiske.' and 'Franz Schubert.' are overprinted centrally in a larger typeface against the green guilloche underprint, serving as a form of authentication. The same ornate engraved border visible on the obverse frames the reverse. |

Braunau am Inn — the Upper Austrian market town, not the Bohemian one — issued this note during the turbulent aftermath of the 1848 revolutions, when coin hoarding and metal shortages forced hundreds of Austrian municipalities to produce their own emergency paper. The 6 Kreuzer denomination was a practical choice, covering small everyday transactions that silver coinage had effectively vacated from circulation.
Three signatories authenticate this piece, which was typical for Braunau's civic Notgeld issues of this period — a municipal committee rather than a single issuing authority. Franz Schubert among the signers is a name worth noting in any provenance record, however common the name may be in Austrian administrative history.
