| Aanvullende informatie |
Antonis Samarakis (1919–2003) spent years under surveillance by Greek security services — an irony that fed directly into his most celebrated work, the 1965 novel The Flaw, a Cold War thriller about a man who cannot remember whether he is the hunter or the hunted. He had been imprisoned and tortured under the Metaxas dictatorship in his youth, and the experience never left his prose. The Bank of Greece issued this coin in the centenary-plus-four year of his birth, part of a broader commemorative program honoring Greek literary figures.
