6 Euro Athens Polytechnic Uprising

Issued on the 50th anniversary of the November 1973 student uprising at the Athens Polytechnic, during which the military junta of Georgios Papadopoulos sent an army tank through the school's iron gate to suppress students who had barricaded themselves inside and broadcast appeals for civilian support over a makeshift radio transmitter. The crackdown killed at least 24 people — the exact toll remains disputed — and accelerated the junta's collapse the following year.
