Obverse description Half-section cut from a Spanish colonial silver real, retaining the partial legend CAROLUS III along the curved beaded border. Two rectangular Saint Lucia countermarks, each bearing the entwined monogram SL in raised relief, are applied to the field — one in the upper right and one in the lower right quadrant of the cut host coin. The host coin's original central device, a draped figure, is partially visible between the two countermarks.
