Obverse description Armored bust of John George III, Elector of Saxony, facing right, wearing elaborately chased cuirass with gorget and lace cravat, his long curled hair falling to his shoulders in the late Baroque fashion. A electoral bonnet or hat appears behind the bust at upper right. The portrait is rendered in high relief with fine detail to the armor's surface decoration. The circular Latin legend surrounds the effigy, reading IOHAN GEORG III DGD SAX IUL CLIV MONT ANG ET W, with a beaded inner border framing the design.
