| Beschrijving voorzijde | Half-length armoured effigy of John George I facing right, wearing a cuirass and holding a commander's baton in his right hand, with a helmet at his side. The bust is rendered in high relief in the style characteristic of early seventeenth-century Saxon court engraving. A circular Latin legend surrounds the figure, reading IOHAN:GEORG:D:G:DVX.SAXON.ARCHIM.EEL., identifying the elector by name and title. The personal motto SCOPUS VITAE MEAE CHRISTVS — 'Christ is the aim of my life' — appears as part of the inscription. The entire design is contained within the square klippe flan with a decorative border. |

Winged cherub heads are positioned at each of the four corners of the square klippe flan, and a decorative chain-link border frames the entire composition. The Latin legend IN GLADIIS FLORET RVTA ITA AMOENA SVIS — 'As rue flourishes among swords, so it is pleasant to its own' — encircles the central motif, referencing the Saxon electoral arms. The design is executed in fine high-relief hammered technique befitting a prestigious commemorative issue. |
