In the exergue beneath the cityscape, a three-line inscription reads MONAST·WESTPH / AD·OBED·REDVC / TVM·, referencing the return of Münster to obedience. The date MDCLXI (1661) appears within the outer circular legend, which names the issuing prince-bishop Christoph Bernhard in abbreviated Latin. The engraving is executed in a bold Baroque style characteristic of mid-17th-century German ecclesiastical coinage. |
