The arch is flanked by decorative foliate or arabesque elements typical of Ilkhanid-era die work. A circular marginal legend in Arabic script surrounds the central design, recording the AH date 753. The flan is irregular and slightly clipped at the edges, consistent with hammered silver coinage of the mid-14th century Ilkhanid tradition. Anushirwan Khan was the last Ilkhan, installed by the Chupanid amir Malik Ashraf as a figurehead while real authority remained entirely in Chupanid hands. By the time these coins were struck, the Ilkhanate had already fragmented beyond recovery — Anushirwan's "reign" was less a continuation of Mongol rule than a legitimizing fiction used by competing warlords who needed his name on currency to justify their own power.
Malik Ashraf was executed by the Jalayirids in 1356, effectively ending both the Chupanid regime and whatever remained of the Ilkhanid pretense simultaneously.
