The curved legend arcs around the left and right fields, naming the monument and its sculptor.

Reverse description The reverse features the coat of arms of Eisleben (a fortified castle with two heraldic shields and a fish in the base) in relief at the centre, framed by a circular legend reading 'Martin Luther Ehrung 1983 der DDR' around the periphery. The mint mark 'A' appears above the shield, and the monogram 'ML' in stylised script is placed at the bottom of the field.
