In the lower right of the field stands a right-facing Japanese serow (Capricornis crispus), the native goat-antelope and symbol of Nagano's alpine wildlife, rendered in fine relief. To the lower left appear the denomination 5000 YEN in Latin characters and the Japanese era date 平成10年 (Year 10 of Heisei) in Kanji. The design is enclosed by a beaded border. |
