Below the denomination, the Atlanta 1996 Olympic torch and flame emblem appears above the five interlocked Olympic rings. The year '1996' is placed in the exergue beneath the rings. The circular legend 'REPUBLIKA SLOVENIJA' runs along the upper periphery in raised Latin lettering.

背面描述 A full-length figure of Slovenian gymnast Leon Štukelj is depicted in dynamic athletic pose, rendered in high relief against a plain field. The design is based on a photograph taken at the 1936 Berlin Olympic Games, where Štukelj won a medal. The circular legend 'OLIMPIJSKE IGRE' appears along the upper periphery, with the centennial date range '1896 - 1996' inscribed in the lower field, commemorating one hundred years of the modern Olympic Games.

附加信息

Issued to mark the centennial of the modern Olympic Games, revived by Pierre de Coubertin and inaugurated in Athens in 1896. Slovenia participated in Atlanta 1996 as an independent nation for only the fourth time — the country had declared independence in 1991 after a ten-day war with Yugoslavia. The Slovenian Olympic Committee was recognized by the IOC in 1992.

The .900 fineness places this coin within a Slovenian commemorative gold series that drew heavily on Austrian minting traditions inherited from the Habsburg period.
