Kazakhstan established its own banknote printing facility in Almaty in 1997, making it one of a small number of post-Soviet states to achieve fully domestic note production within the first decade of independence. This 2023 emission is a product of that in-house capability — designed, printed, and issued without recourse to the major European security printers that most regional central banks still depend on.

The security specification here is notably lean for a high-denomination note, with only a watermark and thread declared — worth verifying against the physical example, as later emissions in the 5000 Tenge series have carried more complex features not always reflected in early catalog references.
