Additional information

Uganda's wildlife coin programs of the early 2000s were issued in partnership with foreign minting houses targeting the collector market rather than domestic circulation — these pieces were never intended to pass through Ugandan hands as currency. The .850 fineness is a deliberate commercial choice, undercutting the cost of .999 silver while still qualifying the issue as a silver coin.
