| Reverse description | A bold, centrally placed front-facing portrait of a Cape buffalo (Syncerus caffer caffer) dominates the field in high relief, with selective gold gilding applied to the animal's massive curved horns and facial features. A decorative border of repeated chevron motifs frames the inner field. The legend 'THE BIG FIVE' arcs along the upper periphery, while '"OUT OF AFRICA"' is inscribed along the lower border. |

| Additional information |
Uganda's wildlife coin programs of the early 2000s were issued in partnership with foreign minting houses targeting the collector market rather than domestic circulation — these pieces were never intended to pass through Ugandan hands as currency. The .850 fineness is a deliberate commercial choice, undercutting the cost of .999 silver while still qualifying the issue as a silver coin.
