Reverse description The coat of arms of the Khmer Republic occupies the central field, featuring the silhouette of Angkor Wat temple set within a shield supported by decorative scrollwork and a sunburst at the base, flanked by stylized clouds; a five-pointed star and two smaller stars appear above the shield within a wreath of laurel. A ribbon scroll below the arms bears an inscription in Khmer script. The denomination 5.000 RIELS appears in Latin numerals below the arms, with the equivalent value in Khmer numerals (៥.០០០ រ) beneath, flanked by two floral sprigs. The date is rendered in both Khmer and Western numerals (១៩៧៤ · 1974) along the lower rim, with a small .925 fineness mark to the right.
