| Opmerkingen |
Cambodia's National Bank has issued multiple 5000 Riel notes across several decades, and P#68 is one of the later polymer-replacement cotton issues — though it retains traditional paper rather than making the switch some neighboring central banks have pursued. The 2015 date places it in a period of relative macroeconomic stability for Cambodia, unusual given that the riel itself has never fully displaced the US dollar in domestic transactions; dual-currency circulation remains a practical reality, and higher-denomination riel notes like this one are used routinely alongside USD cash.
Security on this issue is modest — watermark only, without the foil strip or color-shifting ink found on contemporaneous notes from the region.
