Issued as Yemen's civil war entered its second year, this note was authorized by the Aden-based internationally recognized government while the Houthi movement simultaneously controlled the Sana'a-based Central Bank — effectively splitting the country's monetary authority in two. Both institutions continued issuing currency, with the competing printings accelerating inflation and deepening the economic fracture.
The P#41 series was printed abroad, as domestic production capacity was nonexistent by this point.
