The "New bank seal" designation distinguishes this from earlier runs of the same denomination — Banco de la República updated its official seal during this period, and the change was applied to notes already in production rather than triggering a full redesign. The long print window, 1999 to 2014, reflects the note's workhorse role in Colombian daily commerce during a period of relative monetary stability following the severe 1999 economic crisis, when the peso came under serious pressure and public confidence in the banking system was genuinely shaken.
Imprenta de Billetes — the bank's own in-house printing facility in Bogotá — handled the entire run, making this one of the few notes in the series produced entirely without foreign contracting.
