| Obverse description | Brown and ochre note dominated by a central vignette of two confronting griffins flanking the Baden coat of arms, their wings outstretched to fill the upper field, with the large numeral '5000' repeated across all four corners in Gothic script. The central panel carries the denomination in Gothic lettering 'Fünf Tausend Mark', while two octagonal text panels at left and right bear the promise-to-pay clause and the counterfeiting penalty notice respectively. The issuer name 'Badische Bank' and place of issue 'Mannheim' appear along the lower border, accompanied by two manuscript signatures and the date '1 Dec. 1922', with the serial number printed twice in blue-green at the foot. |
